Credo is a karowork that first channeled sometime in the early 1990s. It came out of my professional work writing environmental education television programs at ACCESS Network in Alberta.
Credo was first published in Update, the Magazine for Environmental Educators, Volume 7, Issue 4, 1994. It was also included in the first version of the dispuasions blog circa 2015.
Let us not forget in our arguing over the cause and source of life that, underneath, we share the same belief — that this planet is a miracle. And that miracle surrounds us, and that miracle is crying for help.
Let us not forget in our arguing over the cause and place for blame that there is only one Earth and only one human species in all the emptiness of space we know. Both must be cherished. Both must be nurtured. Both must be protected.
Let us not forget in our comfort and security that this is rare and no more than a privilege and that as long as there is poverty, hunger and despair there is no true hope, for we are all bound to a common future. And that future is here. And that future starts now.
Let us not forget in our fear of the unknown, in our trembling before the winds of change, that humans can and do change — that constant adaptation is both the mark and the peculiar brilliance of our species.
Ours is the power to envision a better future and to reach for it.
Ours is the duty to dream beyond ourselves to the totality of The Living Flow.
Ours is the responsibility.*
* And we join the future now. Or else.
